Madagascar (Game Cube)

Madagascar (Game Cube)

Madagascar Cover

Hello Internet people, this is Pvt.Awsum, with another amazing blog about a game. This time, I'll be blogging about the very first Madagascar game for the Game Cube. This isn't really the very best game I have ever played in my life, but it's a good game to play now and then sometimes. All right, let's get started!
Gameplay: 12/15
The gameplay in this game isn't all that good, but it's kind of fun to play when you have nothing else to do. To sum it all up, you go on adventures through the different levels to advance. In each level you are either Mary, Gloria, Alex, Melman, or the head of the spy penguins? As you progress in the levels, the map shows you your tracks from New York to somewhere in the middle of Madagascar. The biggest problem I have with this game is that I thought that it would be somewhat related to the story, but overall, basically  half is actually from the movie to me. But that's probably because I only remember half the movie. Still, I really think that it isn't about the game, they always add random stuff to make the game more exciting, like scenarios that the movie wasn't even close to adding to the movie. But it is a god effort on their part to be able to put the movie and their add-ons into one merged product.
Graphics: 10/15
This may be just my game, but there were many glitches. Like when I tried to dodge something, my feet would be in the ground and I couldn't move! To make things simple: the graphics aren't very good. Sometimes, the scene get so dark you can't even see your little tracker thingumabob that keeps track of your points, number of lives, etc. And if you can't see that, then what's the use of it? Anyways, that was a big reason, but that's not all. The characters don't even look like they did in the movie! Isn't that the whole purpose of the movie game? To play out what the characters did in the movie? It doesn't make any sense to me.
Lasting Appeal: 11/15
To make a long story short, this game gets boring after the first hour or so of playing, but that's only because the beginning is made up of mostly cut scenes telling you what to do or what's happening. The only reason this got a 12/15 and not something lower is because when I started playing this game again to blog on it, I had already gotten past the cut scene parts, making the rest of the game more appealing, but enough to get a 15/15. But overall, it's okay, I guess.

To conclude this blog, here are the final ratings:
Gameplay: 12/15
Graphics: 10/15
Lasting Appeal: 11/15
Overall Score: 11/15

I would recommend this game mainly to kids and people who haven't seen Madagascar. So, if you fit in those categories, then I suggest you...
BUY IT!!!

Thanks for reading my third blog, tune in for another original Pvt.Awsum blog. I will see you next time. No, literally, I'M WATCHING YOU!!!!! Just kidding. See ya!

Super Mario Sunshine (Game Cube)

Super Mario Sunshine (Game Cube)

Super Mario Sunshine Game Cover

OMG! It's a Game cube Game! That's right folks, this is Pvt.Awsum, bringing you my next blog. This one will be about a very "ancient" game named, as you read at the top (duh), Super Mario Sunshine. Now I know that they don't sell Game cubes anymore. But lucky me! I had gotten a Game cube for some past Christmas, or whatever. But that ship had already sailed, and I had to play this on my Wii...Oh well. Going back to the game, this is a really fun game to me. It has Mario, who is my favorite Nintendo character (Spider Man's still my #1 all time favorite), and you have this weird, high tech, water pump thing named FLUDD, I think (I know right, such creative names!) Together, Mario and FLUDD work together to clean up the Delphino Isle (or Island?) because of a graffiti crime that he had been framed for by the main villain (I don't know who it is, I haven't even beaten half of the game). But overall, this is one exceptional game.
Gameplay:  13/15
I would just like to note that no matter how much stjmz blabs on about how much Little Big Planet is sooooo much better that Spider Man, at least Spider Man isn't a little beanbag with eyes that runs around doing nothing. To continue with this review, in this game, there's a lot of free roam, which allows you to kind of explore the home island or the level you're on. Mario goes on adventures, trying to capture the mysterious graffiti artist while, of course, cleaning up the artist's messes along the way. I think that the highlight of the gameplay would be the intense bosses in each story level, like a giant mechanical Bowser that breathes fire, a gigantic Petey the Piranha Plant, and, an old classic, the Wigglers. Also, along the way, there are some levels which are kind of like a mini game, but with more dangers and deaths. Also, to make things better, there is fruit in the game which you can pick up and throw at people, making it all worthwhile when you can hear them yelling at you in a gibberish language! The only real downside, which is kind of big, of this whole game would be that to get to the actual bosses of each level, there's always an obstacle, and I don't mean like a few small enemies. I mean you have to either solve some puzzle (for the mini game levels) or even clean up like half or more of the island, which is a pain in the coccyx because there's SO. MUCH. GRAFFITI!!!!! But other than that, it's really fun.
Graphics: 15/15
Now, although this is a very old game (came out in 2002), I think that Nintendo has done very good job of not making the graphics horrible. For example, you can tell what everything is, unlike some other games I've played which have had some messed up graphics. Back to what I was saying, the graphics: great. You can perfectly tell where light is coming from or what kind of fruit you're picking up. It's those little things in a game that make it better.
Lasting Appeal: 11/15
This will be the other rating I will rate games on occasionally. Moving on, this may be a great game and all, but there's just something to it that makes you think, "Why am I playing this game?". It may be good to play for maybe a week or so continuously, but after that the lasting appeal just goes downhill. But don't get me wrong, this is a great game to play once in a while.

To wrap it up, here are the final ratings:
Gameplay: 13/15
Graphics: 15/15
Lasting Appeal: 11/15
Overall Score: 13/15

I really love this game, and, if you have a Game Cube or Wii, I'm sure you'll like it too.

BUY IT!!

Thanks for tuning into my next blog, keep on the lookout for a third one! Until next time, this is Pvt.Awsum, saying keep on playing.

If you liked this game, I suggest buying a pre-owned copy because I looked it up, and a new copy costs around $140.00.

Subway Surfers (iphone)

Overall Rating: 9/15

A 9/15 on a game may not seem like a very high score, but this is my favorite game on the iphone. This has such a low score because it is an iphone game. I'm not saying the iphone is bad, because I use mine a lot more than my PS3 or Wii, but any game on the iphone is not going to be that great. I use this game a lot and it is very good in the car or when you are at a relatives house.

The plot of this game is very bad (like in any iphone game) but is easily inferrable. The character, whoever you select, is spray painting on the train. The inspector then chases you and you are running away.

This game is a lot like temple run but is a lot better. It is better because there are different tracks so it is a little bit of a challenge to get the coins. Also, you can go on top of trains and see farther. This is actually very useful because you can see over trains and obstacles to see bonuses and places to avoid. This makes the game more realistic and fun.

This game is my favorite app on the iphone. It is very hard to get a high score so it gets me to keep trying. There are also objectives to complete to get a score multiplier. These are usually hard to complete after the 15x multiplier so it is very fun to see how I can beat them. YOU MUST GET THIS APP! (it's free!)

Where to buy get: (I can't make a link because it is an iphone game, but search it on the app store)

Little Big Planet Karting (PS3)

Overall Rating: 15/15!!!!!!

I would like to note that Pvt.Awsum is rating his games very passively. Who gives a wii spiderman game a perfect score? The original Little Big Planet is better than any spiderman game will  ever be.

This is the absolute best game ever! All Little Big Planet games are amazing but this game puts this to shame. I would rate this even higher but 15/15 is the limit. I have Mario Kart and it is a great game and the little big planet games are better. This makes a great combination and makes this the best game ever. Maybe a diagram will help:

great game + even better game = The most awesome game ever seen

When I beat it, I had a pang of sadness because it was such a good game. I hope Sony comes out with a Little Big Planet Karting 2 sometime soon.

The plot can be easily followed in this game but is kind of  weak. There is a group called the hoard who steal things from the planet and, well, hoard the stuff (such an original name). You have to beat them in a race and chase them off.

This game again is like Mario but is less kiddish. instead of throwing red turtle shells you send homing missiles and blow the people up. again to keep up the tradition in these games, you can slap people (I know, it is amazing). when you drive next to them and press R2 your character will give a good quality slap to the face and send the other character drifting and out of control for about a second. This may not seem like much but in numerous events it has made the difference between 1st and 2nd place for me. This is actually a very good feature because when you are weaponless you are not completely powerless.

Again it is based off of imagination and you can customize your character to be whatever you want. You can also customize your kart. you can make it hover and change its wheels, steering wheel, seat, and engine sounds. this is very fun because some effect the gameplay (ex: the hover makes the drift better). This is very fun to experiment with and find the best kart.

This is the absolute best game and you must get it. If you do not, you will miss out on the beauty of life, so GET IT!!!

Little Big Planet 2 (PS3)

Overall Rating: 14/15

Little Big planet 2 is much like the original Little Big Planet (see other blog) but is a little bit better. The customization features are the same and there is also another level maker in which I already stated I do not know how to use. There is the same controls and level set-up but this game has a little bit better plot and has more features.

The plot is not as hard to figure out but is hard to follow. all I know is that there is an evil rising and an alliance (which includes you) rise up against this evil. The game gets me a bit pestered sometimes because the rest of the characters just sit around yet they still say that you are not quite worthy (even though I'm saving their butts). Some parts of the plot are hard to follow because one time I was battling a snake-serpent thing and the next level I had to rescue robots from a factory.

Some added features are the vehicles and sackbots. The Vehicles are not like cars but are bunnies, dogs, camels, and rats. These help you complete the level because they have special abilities (The bunnies slam down, the dogs have a super bark, camels spit out fire, and the rats have a turbo boost). These vehicles are very fun to use and sometimes you can have a battle with a friend in multi-player (This is not an official mode but you can play it in a level with the vehicles). The sackbots are little robots you that follow you or run away from you and are needed to pull levers or hijack you into an enemy building. You can also slap them! (No need to gasp like you probably did in my last blog). These added features are like the icing on the cake which make this game the official 2nd best game I've ever played.

Spider Man- Shattered Dimensions (Wii)

Spider Man- Shattered Dimensions (Wii)

Spider Men in order front to back: Spider Man 2099, Amazing Spider Man, Spider Man Noir, and Ultimate Spider Man
Hello Internet people! This is Pvt.Awsum, bringing you the next blog on our website. Now, I am a big Spider Man fan. I have games, old comics, and I was even him for Halloween... twice! But this is a game blog, so I'll just stick to games now. Spider Man: Shattered Dimensions would be my 2nd favorite Spider Man game out of all of mine (I'll be blogging on the other two as well). It has great action, great jokes, and great bosses.
Ratings:
Gameplay: 14/15
The gameplay in this is fantastic. You have 4 different Spider Men (shown up top) you can play as and even one ultimate boss, I'm not revealing who ;), where you get to play as all four of them! There's lots of combat action with really cool special moves where you can beat the snot out of people! Even better: you can buy all new stuff with the points you've earned: different combat moves, health/specialty move upgrades, and even different costumes! But of course, just like everyone else, I prefer cheat codes. Everything is practically great, except for one thing: the controls. There are way too many of them! Yeah, I understand that you need a lot for all the different moves, but they could've made them at least a little bit simpler. For example, in the controls, you use the B button, but then, you can TILT the controller and hit the B button. Because of the tilt, I wasn't able to get past the TUTORIAL without a walk through.
Graphics: 15/15
The graphics: subtle, yet vivid! Each different Spider Man universe has its own way of saying, look at me! Play me! The graphics I would say are great. They also blend into the gameplay a little too. For example, Spider Man Noir (the third one) has a cool stealth mode, where he can hide in the shadows. In that time the whole screen is black and white! It really gives you the feeling of being aware, but if you go into the lights, the colors start to come back, but it stills stays a subtle sepia tone, keeping what lies ahead mysterious and sometimes a bit creepy. The best graphics in the whole game I think are really the characters. I can tell the character artists have put lots of effort into the characters, because they look AWESOME. Great job, really.
Plot: 15/15
This last category is not a defined category. I will be switching it out sometimes with Lasting Appeal. But that's my choice. Let's continue. Overall, the game's is really simple and easy to follow. Here's a summary:
The story starts out at a museum with the real Stan Lee narrating! The villain boss, who shall remain unnamed, is trying to steal an ancient tablet of the universes when good ol' Spidey comes to the rescue. But then the tablet breaks, and all the pieces go to different dimensions, while the villain runs away with one piece. Then Madame Web, who is a psychic boss, contacts Spider Man, along with the other three Spider Men, to help her retrieve the pieces. And all four of the superheroes go on an adventure in their dimensions to save the world, blah, blah, blah. I would tell you the end, but I don't want to give it away. In the end, the plot ties in with the story well and it can be easily followed. I always like me a good plot!

In conclusion, Spider Man Shattered Dimensions is a game that I recommend to you to buy, for all console platforms. Here is a rating recap:
Gameplay: 14/15
Graphics: 15/15
Plot: 15/15
Overall Score: 15/15
BUY IT!!!!

Little Big Planet (PS3)

Overall Rating: 13/15

Little Big Planet is a great single or multi-player game for the PS3 and is a lot like Super Mario Bros from Nintendo. The thing is, Little Big Planet is much much better. Super Mario Bros is way too easy and is also geared towards younger kids. Also, There is something that Little Big Planet has that Mario Bros lacks. In this game, you can slap people! *GASP* I know, It is now the best game ever, but those are not the only reasons I gave this  game such a high rating.

I will admit that the plot of this game is hard to figure out. I still can't understand the plot of the game after beating it. To me, the plot doesn't matter if the game is this great. This game may be rated differently by someone who has to have a good plot. If this is you, I don't suggest this game. To get back on topic, I like this game a lot because if you die once, you get another try. Actually, you get 2 more tries. The levels are set up with check points in the form of portals. When you pass one, you get 3 tries. No, you cannot have a stockpile.*SNIFFLE* it does not matter how many tries you had left in the previous portal; the new portal will give you just 3 total tries at that spot.

The last reason I like this game is the fact that the entire game is revolving around imagination so it gives the levels a cool look. Also, you can customize your character to any costume or mix many together. (my favorites are 1. The zebra costume and 2. The rabbit felt and ears with a lion tail and a pan in his hand). You can make yourself to be anything. (see some characters on the picture above). You can also make your own levels but I found this to be difficult and boring so you will have to figure it out yourself. This is one of the best games I ever played.

BUY THIS GAME!!!!!
